Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Rijeka

Dinko Peračić; ARP

Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Rijeka by Dinko Peračić / ARP is a minimalistic renovation project of a formal industrial complex Benčić from the 1890's in Rijeka, Croatia. While the building was previously only used as a factory, the transformation of 2017 provided new exhibition spaces, increasing the usable surface area from previous surface area to new surface area.
This project contributes to the social-ecological transformation by showing an organic way of renovating and expanding a structure by growing with it and its needs. The open floorplan allows for freedom and flexibility along with a multitude of possibilities to stage and play within the architecture. This is not a finished project but rather an ongoing evolving one that adapts itself to the needs of the museum.
