The House in a Steel Corset by Šépka Architekti is a stunning transformation project of a typical building from the 1930s in Prague, Czech Republic. While the building was previously used for recreational purposes, the transformation of 2019 turned it into a permanent single-family residence. For stability reasons, the roof had to be removed and a steel structure erected around the building. In the process, balconies and a terrace roof were installed, increasing the usable surface area up to 188 m². The House in a Steel Corset by Šépka Architekti contributes to social-ecological transformation by revitalizing existing structures, reducing the environmental footprint associated with new construction. The raw use of materials has reduced the quantity of finishing materials and facilitates their potential re-use.
