The project involved extensive overcladding and incorporates the largest building-integrated renewable energy array in London greatly reducing resident energy bills and comfort as well as the maintenance costs of the building.
Further value has been added to the towers through the creation of four super-insulated low-carbon flats at each tower’s roof level, and the conversion of under-utilised ground level storage areas into office space for rent to local charitable organisations.
Other works included the redecoration of lifts and landings, enhancement of the recycling collection areas, and improved satellite reception equipment. All these measures extend the life of the buildings beyond current expectations and significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the estate.
