The Culturefactory project by Mixa Stúdió is an emblematic transformation endeavor of an industrial site dating back to the 19th century in Ózd, Hungary. While the structure was previously utilized as an industrial power plant, the conversion in 2015 provided an educational center, cultural hub, and film history theme park, significantly increasing the usable surface area to 54486 m2.
This project contributes to the social-ecological transformation by repurposing a historic brownfield site once dominated by heavy industry. Through careful planning and execution from 2011 to 2016, the Culturefactory project breathes new life into the area, converting it into a vibrant cultural and educational hub. By prioritizing cultural use over environmentally intensive industries, the project not only preserves the historical heritage but also fosters sustainable community development.
