The revitalisation of the Historical Center of Joinville by Agence Talweg architectes - Emmanuel Camus is a large-scale restoration project of the historical centre of the 17th Century in Joinville, France. While the building was previously left as a ruin, the transformation of 2019 provided affordable housing, increasing the usable surface area to 480m2.
This project contributes to the social-ecological transformation by offering accessible housing units, sparking a new vitality in the heart of the city for the community to engage in. The materials used are primarily natural and local, including wooden floors, joinery, and cladding, hemp insulation, chestnut shingles, and lime plaster.
