→ ECI Registration (Autumn 2024)
In November 2024, the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) will be officially registered with the European Commission. This step involves submitting the initiative's proposal and getting approval to start collecting signatures.

→ Start Voting Period (February 2025)
The voting period for the ECI begins on 1. February 2025. This marks the start of the campaign where citizens across the EU can begin to support the initiative by signing online via a central EU page. The link will be available as soon as the voting starts.

→ Campaign and Voting Period (January 2025 – December 2025)
From January to December 2025, the campaign and voting period will be in full swing. During this time, the goal is to gather at least one million signatures from citizens in at least seven different EU member states, represented by the National Organizing Members.

→ End Voting Period (2026)
The voting period will officially ends on 30. January 2026. All collected signatures will be submitted for verification to ensure they meet the required thresholds.

→ Submission and Consideration (2026)
Once the signatures are verified, the ECI will be presented to the European Parliament and the European Commission. They will review the initiative and start the procedure of negotiation and implementation.

The European Citizens' Initiative Day (ECI Day) is a high-level annual conference that has been organised by the European Economic and Social Committee since the inception of the European Citizens' Initiative in 2012.

Soft launch of HouseEurope! in Italy
26.02.2025, Order of Architects and P.C.C. of Milan

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM, the first event of a new series of panels curated by Fosbury Architecture and KoozArch will take place. This series will explore, starting from HouseEurope!, the theme of adaptive reuse of buildings, promoting a more sustainable approach from an economic, environmental, and social perspective.

03.02.2025, CAFx - Copenhagen Architecture Forum

An evening of debates and panel discussions with architects, activists and lecturers as HouseEurope! which officially launches the campaign in Denmark. The aim is to spark a renovation revolution across Europe.

ARCH+ staged a “witness hearing” in the form of a conference at CIVA. Practitioners and theorists from all over Europe exchanged insights into successful approaches, but also economic, legislative, and architectural hurdles to a spatial practice of repair and care.

To celebrate the launch of the House Europe! campaign, the Pavillon de l'Arsenal –the French National Organizing Member– hosted a Renovation Night at ENSA Paris-Belleville. The panel included:

The documentary and exhibition To Build Law follows the Berlin-based collaborative architecture practice bplus.xyz (b+) and the Zurich-located chair for architecture and storytelling s+ (station.plus, D-ARCH, ETH Zurich) as they establish a policy lab, HouseEurope!, to propose industry reforms and shift cultural norms.

Over 600 people attended to the HouseEurope! Assembly kicking off the European Citizens’ Initiative to Power Renovation at the Tempelhof Airport in Berlin.

The event will included an introduction to the initiative, an overview of its goals, and a spotlight on international partners. The showcase of the movie “Power to Renovation” was followed by a discussion with with selected contributors from the film, including Lacaton & Vassal, Ruth Schagemann, Barbara Metz, and others.

The exhibition investigates design as a lever for change towards a more just and ecological society, through the lens of social ecology, a radical philosophy that connects ecological issues with political and social ones, spanning from architecture to economics, from political and social theory to anthropology, and even to the natural sciences.
